Lakewood bests Cedarcrest in 11 innings

The April 30 fastpitch game between Lakewood and Cedarcrest could not be decided by a mere seven innings. It was only after a wild eleventh inning that saw both teams score that Lakewood finally won the game 9-8.
Kahlee Barrio drove in the winning run in the game with a triple in the bottom half of the eleventh. She finished the night 3-5 with three triples.
Amanda Nunley and Becca Bean each went 2-5, Nunley scored twice and also drove in two runs. Brienne Stewart went 2-4 for the victors.

South Whidbey

The Cougars also won both games of a doubleheader against South Whidbey on May 2. It took extra frames again for Lakewood to win the first game 3-2. Becca Bean went 2-3 in the game with a run and two stolen bases. Kahlee Barrio again drove in the winning run, scoring Stephanie Kushner in the bottom half of the 10th inning.

In the second game, Lakewood broke away from South Whidbey, scoring four runs in the first and cruising to a 14-3 victory. Hayley Bustad went 2-4 with a double and a triple and Emily Burkholder finished 2-4 with a double, two runs and four RBI.

Sultan

Lakewood completed their wildly successful week with a doubleheader sweep of Sultan as well. Kally Behen moved her record to 11-6 on the season with a 12-2 victory in game one. Amanda Nunley finished 2-2 in the game with two triples and three runs scored. Kahlee Barrio went 2-4 with four runs and two RBI.

In the second game, Amanda Bean won her first game of the season on the mound, boosting Lakewood in a 14-3 victory. Becca Bean finished 2-3 with three stolen bases and three runs. Amanda Nunley went 4-4 with a triple and a home run.
