MARYSVILLE ?Riding an over-sized Trike around an oval track in an effort to get the best time is not an easy task. Throw in obstacles like the Poo Pit, the Jello-O Pit, the Croc Walk and the Roy Robinson Chevrolet NASCAR Corner and it can be downright challenging.

But it was all in fun, June 20, when a dozen teams and hundreds of spectators gathered at the Ebey Waterfront Park for the annual running of the Strawberry Festival's Adult Trike Races.

The event was divided into two divisions. The Competition Division was made up of teams of four men or three men and one woman while the 50-50 Division was made up of teams of two men and two women or three women and one man. Winners in both divisions walked away with a $200 award.

All the four-member teams were competitive, but perennial favorite Golden Corral walked away with the top honors in the Competition Division, followed closely by the Marysville Fire District. Roy Robinson Chevrolet finished in third.

In the 50-50 Division, teams from Golden Corral captured the top two spots while the No. 1 team from Bud Barton's Glasco came in third.

"The races went very well this year," said Chris Nation, organizer of the event and a member of the Marysville Rotary which presented the annual Trike Races. "We had great weather this year which attracted a large crowd."

Nation thanked all the sponsors and added, "We wanted to give the community a fun-filled evening and I think they really enjoyed this year's races."

"This is great," said Alex Bowman of the champion Golden Corral team, shortly after his team's victory. "It was a total team effort."

"We want to thank the sponsors, the racers and the spectators who came out this year and we look forward to seeing them all again next year," added Nation.
