Marysville narrowly falls in four-team golf meet
SNOHOMISH Every stroke counts in golf.
As Snohomish hosted Marysville, Arlington and Stanwood, the visitors fell fewer than 10 strokes apart in the standings, though none came close to usurping their host for first place.
Ultimately, Stanwood took second to Snohomish (382) with a team score of 439, followed by Arlington at 441 and Marysville at 447.
The narrow margin between second and fourth place amounted to less than two strokes per player over the 18-hole competition.
After all kinds of rain and snow the week before, the precipitation took a break and the sun shone on the four teams.
Nathan Pratt golfed number one for a Marysville squad without veteran senior Justin Freeman. Pratt lived up to his team ranking, finishing the par 72 course with an 82-stroke performance. The winning Snohomish squad also produced the meet's medalist in Dylan Stensland, the only golfer on any of the four teams to finish under par with a 70-stroke game.
Pratt's performance was nearly matched by teammates Kyle Hanks and Brandon Caldwell, who finished the Snohomish Golf Course in 85 and 86 strokes, respectively. Adam Kramer and Tanner Cockerill rounded out the scoring set with 97 strokes each, while Daniel Briggs also played for Marysville.
