MARYSVILLE — Motorists in Marysville will have a chance to get their cars clean while also supporting local youth football on Aug. 13.

The Marysville Youth Football committee is conducting car wash fundraisers at several locations throughout town during that day, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

"We're running a scholarship program for less fortunate children who aren't able to come up with the registration fee, but unfortunately we're nowhere near the position to hand out as many scholarships as are desired," said Diana Lang, a spokesperson for the Marysville Youth Football committee. "We're also looking at having to service our football helmets next year, which will cost us around $7,500, not to mention the constant funding that has to go into replacing other worn-out gear."

Lang believes that the car washes on Aug. 13 can help the Marysville Youth Football committee achieve its fundraising goals, especially since all of its members are volunteers.

"We do this for the love of our children and the desire to provide them a safe and fun environment," Lang said.

The car washes will take place at the following locations:

• O'Reilly Auto Parts at 404 State Ave.

• The Burger Mill at 707 State Ave.

• Gold's Gym at 1052 State Ave.

• Haggen Food & Pharmacy at 3711 88th St. NE.

• The Grocery Outlet at 9620 State Ave.

• Albertsons at 11401 State Ave.
