Marysville-Pilchuck takes 9th conference meet

LAKEWOOD — Marysville-Pilchuck boys and girls cross country teams finished ninth at the Western Conference meet at Lakewood High School Oct. 25.

Leading the way for the Lady Tomahawks was sophomore Rachael Lefstad, who finished the 3.1-mile race in 20:24.92, earning 13th place.

The M-P boys were led by senior Michael Standiford, who finished in 18th place with a time of 17:21.78.

The top eight teams from the conference advance to the District 1 meet at South Whidbey High School Oct. 30.

The top 40 individual runners also earn the trip, meaning Lefstad and senior Meghan Benneman (31st, 20:58.14) earned a spot for the girls and Standiford will be joined by junior Erik Kundu (35th, 17:56.05).
