Praise and raze (May 6)

Praise to all those who work at the Marysville Municipal Court. They really do have order in the court.

Praise to those who participate in the first Kiwanis Bowling for Dollars for Scholars event Sunday. It’s hard to find a better cause than helping someone obtain a college education. And with your donation you get to have fun, too.

Raze to the couple who used a knife against a local grocery store clerk. Was it really worth it for some steaks and bacon?

Praise to Arlington for honoring Darlene Strotz with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Praise to Arlington High School’s NeoBots team for placing fourth in a worldwide competition. What an amazing achievement in their first-ever trip.

Raze to transients who are becoming more aggressive in our area. We hope police and social services can rescue the community from their actions.

Praise to all of the businesses who are coming to our community. We only hope we have the infrastructure to handle it all, especially with traffic.

Praise to Marysville police for putting an annex near the Ebey Waterfront Park. That should reduce some crime downtown.

Praise to the Tulalip Tribes and Everett for working together on that $64 million water pipeline. A wonderful event celebrated that accomplishment, which will benefit this area for so many years to come.

Praise to the city of Marysville and all others involved in bringing the Ebey Waterfront Trail system to town. What a great recreational, educational and historical feature it is for our community.

Raze to the Marysville School District for not communicating better its plans regarding its “highly capable” program. It upset a lot of people. We are glad some type of compromise is being worked out.

Praise to all involved in putting together the Career Fair at the Tulalip Resort Casino. Even though unemployment is down from what it once was, it is still an important issue for those without jobs and those underemployed.

Raze that Tony Reed received such a short sentence for his involvement in the slaying of an Oso couple. Even the judge said, “It’s not enough time.” But she had to follow the law, which obviously needs to be changed.

Praise to the Marysville School District for sponsoring the Opportunity Expo for underclassmen. It’s great that kids can learn what’s out there in the way of jobs, while they still can do something about it.

Praise that progress is being made on Twin Lakes Landing, which will bring low-income housing to the area.

Praise to the cities of Arlington and Marysville for putting on such wonderful community Easter Egg hunts.

Praise to Arlington-Darrington for their efforts in the ABC competition. In our hearts and minds you won.

Praise to those in charge of closing Highway 530 due to slide concerns. Better safe than sorry.

Praise to local athletes who signed letters of intent to continue playing sports in college. We are so happy your hard work has been rewarded.

Praise to the student-actors who are performing in the play at Marysville-Pilchuck High School called “Shrek, the Musical.” We are believers.
