Scott Solla, present Arlington City Councilman, loves his position. If you were not aware, he is running to retain his position No. 3 on the Arlington City Council. I would like to tell you about the man you dont know. Scott is not the type of person who will toot his own horn so I will toot it for him.
I have known Scott Solla for over 28 years. Over those years he has been a major positive influence in my life and the lives of our three sons. Scott married me with three boys that were not his own. But he always treated them as if they were. As our boys have grown into men, it has become clear that he was a positive role model in their lives. Two of our sons have chosen him to be their best man and have legally changed their name to honor Scott and carry on his name.
When we moved to Arlington, he saw a need in our neighborhood Home Owners Association and volunteered as president. In a short time, he took on the project of planting trees in the neighborhood. That summer, there was a lack of rain and he worried that they wouldnt make it, so he filled up gallon jugs from our hose and went out and watered all 160 of them. Scott is a man of integrity and has a genuine concern for his community.
He is a man who puts up Christmas lights for our neighbors who were not able to put them up themselves and a man who mows his neighbors lawn when they are injured or too busy. He is a man who has helped an elderly gentleman with groceries waiting too long for a taxicab by offering him a ride home. Scott is a man who will put up his opponents sign when it is down and when I ask why, he says because its the right thing to do.
When appointed to the Arlington City Council as a member, he was chosen because of his integrity, someone who would help bring stability and balance to the team. He cares about our community of Arlington. He will fight and be bold for the citizens when necessary. He does not have his own agenda. Rather, his agenda is to serve his community. If you want someone who will fight to protect our community and keeping Arlington strong and safe; someone who is not looking out for his own interests but the interests of the citizens of Arlington, then you will want to vote to retain Scott Solla on the City Council.
