Work begins Nov. 1 on First Street project

MARYSVILLE – Construction is scheduled to begin Nov. 1 for the First Street Development project.

The project is similar to one completed this year on Third Street.

During construction, drivers can expect intermittent single-lane closures with flaggers and potential delays at times. Construction should be complete in early 2018.

Contractor SRV Construction, Inc., is building the $911,537 project, about half of which is funded by the state Department of Ecology.

Between State Avenue to east of Cedar Avenue, the city will build new bio-retention facilities that incorporate landscaping and plants to treat and filter storm-water runoff that flows into Ebey Slough. It will have shallower bio-retention features. Crews will also replace about 775 feet of aging cast iron water main.
