SWAT standoff in Marysville ends in arrest of assault suspect

MARYSVILLE – The Region 1 SWAT team deployed a pepperball into a home to end a standoff that started with a Marysville man allegedly assaulting a women by choking her to unconsciousness.

The man, 41, made threats to kill the victim and would not allow her to leave the residence. Eventually the victim was able to escape.

Just after midnight the SWAT team responded to a barricaded suspect in the 14100 block of 40th Ave. NW. When deputies arrived the man refused to exit the residence.

After continuous unsuccessful efforts to communicate with the suspect, the pepperball was deployed into the man’s bedroom via the window.

The man immediately exited the residence and was taken into custody.

The suspect was booked into the Snohomish County jail in Everett on suspicion of second-degree assault, felony harassment and unlawful imprisonment.
