MARYSVILLE – Motorists will have to take an 8.3-mile detour to get around road closures on Highway 9 as a roundabout is being installed at 108th Street NE.
Cars will be detoured to the west along 67th Avenue Northeast.
The work was supposed to start this weekend, but was changed due to an unfavorable weather forecast.
So now the first closure starts at 9 p.m. Sept. 13 and ends at 5 a.m. Sept. 16. The second starts at 9 p.m. Sept. 20 and ends at 5 a.m. Sept. 23.
Roughly 16,000 vehicles pass through the dangerous intersection every day, according to state Department of Transportation. Between 2012-17, more than 50 people were injured in 28 accidents at the intersection.
All lanes of Highway 9 will be closed from Highway 531 to 84th Street NE. Work is weather dependent.
SMOKEY POINT – The grand opening of the new Habitat for Humanity Store will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 7 at 17020 Smokey Point Blvd.

ARLINGTON – Two Arlington residents were injured in an accident Sept. 1.
Colby Bertino, 22, was eastbound on Highway 530 and Alex Donchez, 30, was northbound on Highway 9 when they collided at 1:49 a.m.
Both were transported with injuries to Cascade Valley Hospital in Arlington.
