Remains of man missing 2 1/2 years found during search for another man

TULALIP – A man missing for 2 1/2 years was identified today after being discovered while police and volunteers were searching for another missing man over the weekend.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner identified the remains as 37-year-old Shawn Bond, who was reported missing by his family in July of 2015.

Bond was transient and suffered from untreated mental health issues and drug addiction, a medical examiner’s news release says. Cause and manner of death are pending.

His remains were found March 25 in a wooded area in the 9800 block of 27th Ave NE. Dozens of people spent the weekend searching in wooded areas near Quil Ceda Creek Casino, looking for a missing Everett man. Jacob Hilkin, 24, was last seen on foot in the area Jan. 23. He has not been found.

The search team also consisted of Everett Mountain Rescue, the Tulalip Police Department, and volunteers from Mason, King, Kitsap and Pierce counties.
