MARYSVILLE – An Arlington man was killed and a 19-year-old Mount Vernon man was booked into Snohomish County Jail Tuesday for suspicion of vehicular homicide after a crash.

Jacob A. Hedington of Arlington, who was a passenger in the vehicle, died from blunt-force injuries, according to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The accident occurred around 12:30 a.m. when a passenger vehicle was traveling northbound on 27th Avenue NE and crossed 116th Street NE where it crashed into a wooded area. The passenger, an adult man, died at the scene. The driver was transported to a hospital for minor injuries. After being released, he was arrested.

The Sheriff’s Office Collision Investigation Unit is working to determine the cause, but detectives believe speed and alcohol may have been contributing factors, a sheriff’s news release says.
