Manhunt on in M’ville shooting with life-threatening injuries (updated)

MARYSVILLE – Police investigating an early morning shooting June 1 are calling the incident isolated that left a 39-year-old man hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

“We do have some leads, and it appears that the shooting is isolated,” Police Chief Rick Smith said Monday.

Detectives have gathered leads that suggest the crime wasn’t random, and point to the victim being targeted, police said.

Police are searching for the suspect who shot the man.

Officers and medics responded to multiple 9-1-1 calls of shots fired in the parking lot at the Wishing Well apartments on 88th Street NE near State Avenue. That’s where responders found the victim at about 3 a.m. Paramedics rushed him to Providence General Medical Center for surgery, and he was later transferred to Harborview Medical Center.

Police Cmdr. Robb Lamoureux said the shooter fled before officers arrived and is at large.

Detectives cordoned off a portion of the parking lot, finding bullet casings on the ground that may have come from more than one gun, Lamoureux said.

The investigation is ongoing. Police have no description of a suspect or how that person may have escaped. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Marysville police at 360-363-8350.
