Lakewood and Marysville Getchell soccer open with wins; so does Arlington and MG tennis (slide show)

LA CONNER — Jaylene Priebe led Lakewood with three goals, and teammates Khloe Simmons, Baylee Dixon and Preston LaLone added one each in the Cougars’ debut soccer win of the season over La Conner 6-1 Sept. 6.

MARYSVILLE — Marysville Getchell’s Oshinaye Taylor scored the only goal in the first half in the girls soccer team’s season-opening victory over Lynnwood 1-0 Sept. 6.

ARLINGTON — The Arlington girls soccer team dropped its season opener to Issaquah 1-0 Sept. 6.

MARYSVILLE — The Marysville-Pilchuck boys tennis team lost its first match of the season to Mountlake Terrace 7-0 Sept. 6.

MARYSVILLE — The Marysville Getchell boys tennis team started its season with a 4-3 win over Monroe Sept. 6.

MG’s winnings matches were: Singles—Josh Villavicencio, 6-2 and 6-2. Doubles—Nolan Lechner and James Madamba, 6-2 and 7-6 (4); Daniel Kiesz and Mack Gray, 6-2 and 6-4; and Erik James and Brandon Thomas, 7-5 and 6-1.

ARLINGTON — The Arlington boys tennis team topped Mount Vernon in its season opener 6-1 Sept. 6.

Arlington’s winning matches were: Singles—Connor Gutherie, 6-2 and 6-2; Nicholas Mendro, 6-4 and 6-1; Sean McCauley, 6-2 and 6-3; and Kenny Knutson, 6-1 and 6-1. Doubles—Isaiah Mitzefledt and Kade Meyers, 6-2 and 6-2; and Wren Pullig and Edward Radion, 6-1 and 6-1.
