Arlington man involved in fatal shooting

ARLINGTON – After being shot in the arm Monday afternoon, an Arlington man gained control of the gun and shot his attacker, who later died in a hospital.

At about 1:30 p.m., deputies responded to a shooting in the 11000 block of 72nd Ave NE. The victim, a 37 year-old Everett man, suffered a gunshot wound to his chest and later died. Detectives learned the victim arrived at the residence of the Arlington man and engaged in a physical altercation before shooting him in the arm. The Arlington man, also 37, gained control of the gun and returned shots at the Everett man. He was transported by aid to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett, where he died. The Arlington man suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and also was transported to Providence. No arrests have been made, but detectives continue to investigate.

Identification of the deceased, as well as cause and manner of death, will come from the Snohomish County Medical Examiner.
