SMOKEY POINT — A motorcyclist died after he collided with a construction vehicle on Interstate 5, causing nearly a 20-mile back up from Arlington to Everett on Wednesday, May 19.

The accident occurred on northbound I-5 near the Smokey Point exit (206) just after 1:30 p.m., said Mark Francis of the Washington State Patrol.

Scott Weber, 51, of Stanwood, was piloting the motorcycle and was airlifted to Harbor View Medical Center in Seattle where he later died.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision caused backups from Arlington to Everett as emergency personnel responded to the scene.

Both lanes were open just after 4 p.m., WSDOT officials said.
