SNOHOMISH COUNTY — As of press time, Washington State Patrol Trooper Keith Leary has received no reports of drivers in Snohomish County experiencing malfunctions in their vehicles’ gas pedals.
Nonetheless, he offered a list of tips in case motorists find their cars’ gas pedals sticking, causing their motors to go faster and faster.
“Don’t panic,” Leary said. “Keep your eyes on the road, quickly shift your vehicle into the neutral gear, pull off the road when it’s safe to do so and turn off the engine. As each situations may vary, drivers must use their own best judgment.”
Toyota recently announced its recall of eight of its models due to sticking gas pedals. Those who suspect problems with their own vehicles are encouraged to contact their local dealerships.
