Charges filed in shooting of SPD officer

Christopher Monfort, who is the suspect in the Oct. 31 fatal shooting of Seattle Police Officer and Marysville resident Timothy Brenton, has been charged with aggravated first-degree murder.

King County prosecutors have also charged Monfort with attempted first-degree murder in the shooting of Officer Britt Sweeney, Brenton's partner.

Monfort faces additional charges in the Oct. 22 fire bombing of police vehicles in the Charles Street garage in Seattle.
