Invocations needed for City Council meetings
June 25, 2009 · 10:42 AM
MARYSVILLE — The city of Marysville is seeking individuals interested in presenting non-denominational invocations at the commencement of its City Council meetings.
The Marysville City Clerk's Office annually compiles a list of volunteers to present invocations at one or more City Council regular meetings and work sessions. The Council meets each Monday at 7 p.m., in the Council chambers, on the second floor of the Marysville City Hall building, excluding holidays and the month of August.
Volunteers interested in serving their community in this manner should send a letter of interest to the City Clerk's Office, care of the city of Marysville, at 1049 State Ave., Marysville, WA 98270.
In 2002, Marysville began the tradition of opening its City Council meetings with a brief invocation, similar to those that open the state Legislature sessions, and the convening of the House and Senate in the nation's capitol.
For more information, you may contact the City Clerk's Office at 360-363-8000.
