Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes detectives are investigating circumstances surrounding a shooting incident that resulted in the death of a 6-year-old girl.

Investigators were called to the 4500 block of 83 Place W., Tulalip, Sunday at approximately 7:50 p.m. A 6-year-old female had suffered a gun shot wound to the head. A male called 911 at 7:26 p.m. to report that his daughter had been shot in the head. The caller told the 911 operator that they were cleaning guns.

The 6-year-old female was transported by aid car to Colby Campus in Everett and then airlifted to a hospital in Seattle where she died early Monday. A 42-year-old male has been detained for questioning at this time. The male is the victim’s father. Also present at the residence during this incident was the victim’s mother, an infant and an 8-year-old sibling.

The incident remains under investigation.
