MARYSVILLE – A Nov. 15 grand opening for the Strawberry Fields for Rover Off-Leash Park in Marysville has been canceled due to significant flooding caused by recent heavy rains.

During an on-site visit, staff members of the Marysville Parks and Recreation Department determined that water levels in the Quilceda Creek corridor have risen as much as eight inches, making the trail system to the off-leash park impassible, said Jim Ballew, Parks and Recreation Director. The floodwater is not expected to recede until the weekend.

Repairs will be made when the entire trail corridor can be accessed, Ballew said. The off-leash park itself has not been impacted by flooding.

The grand opening has been rescheduled for 9 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 6.

The off-leash park is located at the Strawberry Fields Athletic Complex, 6100 152nd St. NE in north Marysville. For more information call Maryville Parks and Recreation at 360-363-8402. Additional grand opening details are available at the Marysville Dog Owners Group website at http://m-dog.org.
