Youth symphony selects north county musicians

EVERETT — Thirteen Marysville youth and three Arlington youth have been selected by audition to be members of various Everett Youth Symphony ensembles for the 2008-2009 season.
Five Marysville violinists, Marissa Haley, Susanna Haley, Rachel Lee, Jessica Macaulay, Fiona West, were selected for the Intermezzo Strings.
Bassoonist Chelsea Steen and violinist Octavia Velasco were selected for Junior Symphony and for the Youth Symphony, Adrienne DeGiorgi, on flute, Lily Haight, on cello, and four violinists were selected: Lois Haight, Rebekah Lee, Matthew West and Victoria West.
From Arlington, Katie Allen, who plays French horn and two violinists, Katie Estes and Maria Overman have been selected for the Junior Symphony.
The Everett Youth Symphony Orchestras challenge young musicians who play a variety of instruments, from strings and woodwinds to brass and percussion, according to Tam Osborne, the artistic director of EYSO.
