MARYSVILLE Marysville residents are invited to attend a reception on Friday, April 6 to welcome new Police Chief Rick Smith. The reception will be at 2 p.m. in the Ken Baxter Senior Community Center, 514 Delta Ave. Refreshments will be available.
The reception is an opportunity for citizens and business owners to meet and greet the new Chief and his family, and give a show of support that our community is excited to have him come on board, said Doug Buell, Community Information Officer.
Smith and his wife, Chris, have two children, a college-age son and a daughter in high school.
Local elected officials, dignitaries, law enforcement personnel, friends and others have been invited to attend. He started the new job on March 5.
Smith served as a Commander in the Vancouver Police Department for several years prior to coming to Marysville.
