Doctor in training wins $1,000

The president of the Darrington Kiwanis Club, Toni Larsen, at left, and her employee at Do It Best Hardware, Jennifer West, draw Eliza Schillhammers name from the pot in the clubs raffle drawing which raised $2,000 by selling 100 $20 tickets.The daughter of the towns doctor, Schillhammer is attending medical school. She won $1,000. A portion of the balance, $500 was used to buy Christmas gifts for 31 kids in Darrington, said the clubs past president, Ken Bell. We gave the food bank the money to go buy the gifts and Santa Claus distributed those gifts Thursday night, Dec. 21., said past president Ken Bell.
