Outstanding local high school students were honored by the Masonic Lodge on April 17, when the Marysville Crystal Lodge No. 122 hosted juniors from Marysville-Pilchuck and Lakewood high schools. The program started with a sumptuous Burger and Fries Banquet prepared by Chef Gary Rhodes. The awards ceremony followed. Ken Cage, of Masonic Crystal Lodge, was the guest speaker. His speech gave them something they could take with them as life guides. From left here are Winston Vitous, Master of Crystal Lodge; Courtney Rae Prosser, LHS; Shannon Rae Price, and Peter Craig Clark, M-PHS; Aaron John Leonard of LHS and Farlan Dubarry, Master of Ceremonies. This annual program starts with the teachers identifying the top five junior boys and girls. The students fill out an application for the Lodge. A committee of business people, who are not Masons, and who do not have children in high school, makes the final selection of the top boy and girl from each school. This years committee was Jodi Hiatt, (Marysville Everett Ceramic Tile), Brent Ingram, President of the Friends of the Marysville Library, and Leanne Erdle of Marysville Door Co. Each winner was given an appropriate picture of a famous American.
