The group sings together regularly through the year at Our Saviors Lutheran Church and they will present a special Christmas concert this Saturday, Dec. 16, starting at 7 p.m., at 616 Highland Dr., in Arlington. The program, And the Word Was God was written by Breon, the church music director who also teaches music at Kent Prairie Elementary School. The program includes musical selections performed by the choir, accompanied by instrumental musicians and readings of scripture. A long time member of the choir since about 1970 and former director Joyce Wold said the program is filled with outstanding voices and lots of enthusiasm. There are gospel tunes and chants, traditional carols from ancient to contemporary, Wold said. Its really very upbeat and fun, she said. Songs include traditional carols like What Child is This,? O Come Emannuel,?and Good Christian Men Rejoice,?as well as some less conventional pieces like, This Little Light of Mine?featuring drummer Robert Campbell. Basically we tell the Christmas story in song,?Breon said. For information call the church 360-435-8921.
