Group plans theater
August 28, 2008 · Updated 9:33 AM
MARYSVILLE Still in its first act, a new group wants to find or build a community theater building in the city.
We want a facility where we can have local talent, plays, music and dance recitals and out of town touring groups, said Leslie Buell, who is so far leading the charge for the Marysville Community Theater Association.
With annexation, Buell noted the citys population could soon hit over 55,000 and added that smaller cities already have local performing arts centers and, in some cases, are planning more.
Marysville does not currently have anything to facilitate even our local dance studios for their spring and winter recitals, Buell said. They all go out of town to either Everett or Lake Stevens.
The theater group has been holding monthly meetings. The next is 7 p.m. Feb. 27 at the Marysville Sno-Ilse Library, 6120 Grove St. The public is welcome.
