MARYSVILLE Marysville police are pleased to announce the recent graduation of Sgt. Darin Rasmussen from the School of Police Staff and Command at Northwestern University in Meridian, Idaho.
Rasmussen completed the intensive 10-week program that provides upper-level college instruction in leadership, management and management theory, organizational behavior, human resources for law enforcement, budgeting, staff allocation and personnel deployment. The curriculum includes examinations, projects, quizzes and two research papers.
Rasmussen, a 17-year veteran with the Marysville Police Department, is a past-recipient of the Chiefs Meritorious Service Award for overseeing the departments process to achieve state accreditation, and more recently has been a key leader in the citys emergency management response and training efforts to be prepared in the event of a major disaster. His wife, Carmen, serves on the Marysville City Council. They have two children, Andrea and Chris.
The Center for Public Safety was established at Northwestern University in 1936 as the Traffic Institute, with the goal to expand university-based education and training for the law enforcement community.
