MVille man jailed in overdose, beating of two-month old infant
MARYSVILLE A 31-year-old man was jailed in the beating and overdose of his two-month old infant daughter. The girl had been taken to Childrens Hospital by ambulance on Dec. 6 after suffering respiratory failure while at her doctors office in Redmond. Doctors there determined that she had been given an overdose of prescription medication. She is currently in the intensive care unit.
Marysville Police Department detectives responded to Childrens Hospital to investigate further. Preliminary interviews indicated that the childs father had given the infant an unknown amount of prescription medication at their residence in the 6600 block of 79 Pl NE, Marysville.
Doctors examined both the girl and her twin brother. The examinations revealed multiple bone fractures, but doctors expect the infant to make a full recovery. All the children in the home were taken into protective custody by Child Protective Services, according to a statement by Marysville Police Department spokesman
Commander Ralph Krusey.
Police interviewed the man further on December 8, after which they booked him into the Snohomish County Jail on a bail of $100,000 for two counts of Assault of a Child in the Second Degree, and one count of Distribution of a Schedule II Controlled Substance to a Person Under the Age of 18.
Marysville police are continuing to investigate the incident.
