Jillian Pratt of Lake Stevens works on a Valentine at the Marysville YMCA family activity night on Feb. 10, with her father Chris, at left. The YMCA holds several family fun nights throughout the year on Easter, Halloween and other times. This is the seventh or eighth year the program has been going, according to Vickie Southern, family director for the Y. The idea of the parent and child program is that it gives parents a positive way to interact with their kids, Southern said. The Y has two family activity nights each month, usually on Tuesday nights. Other special events include the annual diversity celebration in May, the Healthy Kids Day and outdoor movies on an inflatable projection screen. We try to aim it so its good for families with little kids, Southern said.
