Arrest made in assault, theft crimes

MARYSVILLE Marysville Police arrested 23-year-old Marysville man for felony assault and theft crimes.
Just before 8 p.m., Dec. 8, night officers responded to reports of a fight in the 1200 block of 4th St., in Marysville. Witnesses reported a man had been badly beaten, including being stomped on his head by the suspect who had taken the victims backpack after the assault and walked away from the scene.
Responding officers located the suspect about one block away, and after an eyewitness identified the suspect, took him into custody. The suspect was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for Third Degree Assault and Second Degree Theft.
Investigators are still trying to determine the motivation for the assault.
The 21-year-old victim, a Marysville man, was unconscious when police arrived and was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center for his injuries. His current condition is unknown.
