MARYSVILLE — At 9:23 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 6, the Marysville Fire District was dispatched to a residential fire in the 7700 block of 62nd Street NE. Firefighters arrived at 9:31 a.m. and located a fire in a two-story residential building.

Original reports stated the fire was in the garage. The first arriving officer reported that smoke was visible from the garage. Firefighters fought the fire offensively, and the fire was under control within 10 minutes, confined to the garage. The structure was occupied at the time of the fire. All of the residents evacuated the structure, as they were alerted by a smoke alarm. There were no injuries reported.

The fire's dollar loss has been estimated at $20,000.

At the height of the incident, more than 28 firefighters battled the blaze, with mutual aid provided by Getchell's Snohomish County Fire District 22 and Lake Stevens.

The fire was investigated by the Marysville Fire District and determined to be accidental, caused by a hot ember.

The Marysville Fire District would like to remind you to check your smoke alarms regularly and practice your emergency plan.
