Marysville' Melinda Andrews pages for Hobbs

March 12, 2013 · 4:27 PM

OLYMPIA — During the week of Feb. 25, home-schooled Marysville student Melinda Andrews served as a page for the Washington state Senate in Olympia.

Andrews was sponsored by Sen. Steve Hobbs, D-Lake Stevens.

"Melinda is an intelligent and thoughtful young individual," Hobbs said. "I appreciate the hard work she put in as a page, and I hope she got a lot out of her week in Olympia."

Andrews was excited to get a firsthand experience with the Legislature.

"I love getting the chance to learn things here that I would otherwise try and learn from books," Andrews said.

Andrews participates in a local art school where she practices performance art and is learning fashion design.

She also enjoys skiing, playing the violin and going for quiet walks in the woods near her house.
