MARYSVILLE — "Coal Trains: A Coming Coal Export Workshop" will run from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 30, in the cafeteria of Totem Middle School, located at 1605 Seventh St. in Marysville.
The event's organizers have expressed their concerns about the potential impact of coal exports on local communities, and explained that such workshops are intended to get those communities involved in the discussions of the issue in advance of the upcoming public hearings that will address the topic.
Of particular interest to the group meeting in Marysville is the increase in train traffic that such coal exports would bring. Marysville Mayor Jon Nehring is expected to attend this meeting.
