86th Place NE sees partial closure Aug. 8-31 for 51st Ave. extension
August 6, 2012 · 12:28 PM
MARYSVILLE — Motorists are being advised that 86th Place NE, between 52nd Avenue and 49th Drive NE, will be closed to through-traffic during the week starting Wednesday, Aug. 8, during construction of the 51st Avenue extension project.
The closure will run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Mondays through Fridays, until Aug. 31.
SRV Construction is building a three-lane extension of 51st Avenue that will connect 84th and 88th streets to create an uninterrupted north-south route.
The project west of Pinewood Elementary will add many school zone improvements, including a bus lane and two bike lanes, as well as a curb, gutter and sidewalk.
In addition, construction workers at the project's north end will install a traffic signal at the intersection of 88th Street and 51st Avenue, replacing stop signs at the existing three-way stop.
The project design, led by Project Manager Jeff Laycock, was done in house. The goal is to complete the project in time for the start of the new school year.
