Burn ban still in effect for Snohomish County

Due to continued high fire dangers, and prolonged hot and dry weather conditions, the Snohomish County Fire Marshal is reminding residents that outdoor burning, except for recreational fires, has been banned.

August is a deadly month on Washington's roadways, according to the Fatality Analysis Reporting System. From 2006-10, on average, more impaired driving deaths occurred in August than any other month. That’s why, from now through Sept. 3, extra officers will be looking for DUI drivers during the annual "Drive Hammered, Get Nailed" campaign in Snohomish County.

Everett Clinic to open in Smokey Point

SMOKEY POINT — The Everett Clinic is set to open a new facility in Smokey Point on Thursday, Aug. 23. The ribbon-cutting ceremony is set for 9 a.m. that day, and an open house is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 25, at 10 a.m. The facility is 60,000 square feet and is the largest location outside of the Everett Clinic's main campus.

USS Nimitz returns from RIMPAC, CQ underway
