Everett Clinic to open in Smokey Point

SMOKEY POINT — The Everett Clinic is set to open a new facility in Smokey Point on Thursday, Aug. 23. The ribbon-cutting ceremony is set for 9 a.m. that day, and an open house is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 25, at 10 a.m. The facility is 60,000 square feet and is the largest location outside of the Everett Clinic's main campus.

It seems unfathomable that there was a time when commercial composting did not exist. The end of the road for grass clippings and vegetable trimmings was once invariably a landfill. There, valuable organic materials were wasted in an airless tomb to remain unchanged for years while generating methane — one of the most potent greenhouse gases.
