PASCO — The harriers of Lakewood High School started the 2010 cross country season with the commitment to bring love, conditioning and unity into the culture of their team. These “core covenants” selected by the team, have shaped the identity of Cougar cross country.“The team expressed those (covenants) through the season and cared for each other through the action of love and working together as a team,” said Lakewood head coach Jeff Sowards. “Unity, they worked the hardest on.”
At the state championship, Nov. 6, the Cougars stepped to the starting line with not only a goal to perform well, but to uphold their team and school with their dedication to these covenants.

The Washington State Patrol, Tulalip Tribal Police and Marysville Police Department will be working together to ensure shoppers are traveling safely to and from their favorite shopping areas on Thanksgiving night, Friday, and remainder of the holiday weekend.
Motorists traveling on Interstate 5 in the Marysville/Arlington areas should anticipate congestion northbound and southbound on I-5 at 88th street (Exit 200) and 116th Street (Exit 202) and Exit 206 (Smokey Point). These roads lead to the busiest shopping areas in the north county area and are historically the heaviest traveled by shoppers. Local drivers should expect unusually high traffic volumes on surface streets leading up to and around the Shopping Centers late Thursday evening and Friday, according to Trooper Keith Leary, District 7 Public Information Officer for the Washington State Patrol.

• A recent study reported that the odds of developing breast cancer were reduced by 79 percent, on average, among water drinkers. One possible explanation is that maintaining a dilute solution within cells reduces the potency of estrogen and other carcinogens that cause long-term tissue damage.
• Water forms the makeup of synovial fluid (the lubricating fluid between joints) and cerebrospinal fluid (fluid in between vertebrae and around the brain). If your body is even slightly dehydrated, less fluid is available in these areas to protect your joints, spine and brain.
