As of Dec. 6, the possession and use of one ounce or less of marijuana becomes legal in the state of Washington, but how this will be enforced and prosecuted depends upon whom you ask, and in what part of the state.
Northbound State Route 529 bridge between Everett and Marysville remains closed until mid-day Tuesday

Difficult repairs and wet, cold and windy weather has pushed back the scheduled reopening of the northbound State Route 529 bridge over the Snohomish River. Crews will not be able to reopen the popular route between Everett and Marysville until mid-morning on Tuesday, a day later than previously planned.

As expected, the evening commute between Everett and Marysville was much heavier than usual. By 3 p.m., backups stretched from US 2 into Everett, an estimated six miles.

EVERETT — Traffic is again moving over the northbound lanes of the State Route 529 Snohomish River bridge days after a collision caused major structural damage. Safety concerns prompted bridge inspectors from the Washington State Department of Transportation to close the span at 3 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, until repairs could be made. Crews worked around the clock through rough weather to design and fabricate replacement parts for the 85-year-old bridge.

Representatives of the Marysville and Arlington school districts have joined county, state and national officials in reacting to the shooting on the morning of Friday, Dec. 14, at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Conn., which killed 26 people total, including 20 children.

The Snohomish County Multi-agency Response Team (SMART) has responded to the scene at the 16300 block of SR 9 to investigate a possible trooper-involved shooting. One suspect was taken into custody and is being treated at Harborview Medical Center. No troopers or officers were injured, according to Shari L. Ireton, Director of Communications, Snohomish County Sheriff's Office.
