ARLINGTON — The Cascade Valley Hospital and Clinics Board of Commissioners voted 5-0 on Thursday, Aug. 29, to enter into strategic alliance negotiations with PeaceHealth, which includes its proposed strategic collaboration with University of Washington Medicine, but Board Chair Dr. Tim Cavanagh wants to make sure the public understands what this arrangement actually means.

MARYSVILLE — The students of Liberty Elementary are starting the new school year with a freshly repainted playground, and while many of its lines were repainted by members of the Grove Church in Marysville, who also worked on the school's track, one of the blacktop's most visible features was repainted by an area Boy Scout and half a dozen fellow volunteers, whose five hours of painting on Aug. 3 took months of preparations to make happen.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Rep. Rick Larsen, of Washington state's 2nd Congressional District, announced nearly $2 million in total federal grants for the Arlington Municipal Airport and Paine Field on Tuesday, Aug. 27. The Federal Aviation Administration grants will fund safety and facility upgrades at both airfields.

Over the next three years, United Way of Snohomish County will distribute up to $330,000 to organizations working to address intergenerational poverty. These grants will support capacity building for both small and large agencies. Potential applicants are invited to one of two Bidders’ Conferences on Wednesday, Sept. 18, and Friday, Sept. 20. Applications will be accepted online starting on Sept. 18. The deadline to apply is Friday, Oct. 4.
