Discover in-home care with a human touch

Western Washington care provider creates a caring, responsive team with you at the centre

Asking for help can be a tough thing to do, and when the time comes to seek in-home care for yourself or your loved ones, you want to be assured you’re in good hands.

Whether you’re seeking someone to run errands for independent elderly parents, need help managing tasks for someone with a chronic health condition, require respite care to get a bit of a break, or even need someone to watch your kids for a while, team members at Homewatch CareGivers of Western Washington have your back.

“Our personal touch will bring you confidence in the care for your loved ones. What matters to you matters to us,” says Rachel Linden, Homewatch director of marketing and community outreach.

Here’s some of the ways Homewatch CareGivers can help:

  • Individualized care – The caring attitude and client-centered philosophy held by co-owners Dale Kiesz and Amy Kirby is shared by Homewatch caregivers, who receive specific training to prepare them to care for clients with a wide range of needs. “This philosophy and training allows us to support and create great caregivers who can make a difference in our clients’ homes and lives,” Kiesz says.
  • You’re part of a greater team – Homewatch CareGivers are there to work with you and any other professionals who make up the care team, from family members to physicians, physical or occupational therapists to hospice and hospital staff. Whatever it takes to make things easier for you and your family, from transportation to companionship, caregivers are there to work with you.
  • Helping maintain feelings of independence – Homewatch CareGivers also provide that extra pair of eyes to watch out for potential hazards in the home. Things as simple as extra clutter on the floor or a dim light in the hallway could lead to an accident, and are the type of scenarios to which caregivers are especially alert, as a way to minimize the risk of injury.
  • Breaking down barriers to care – Homewatch CareGivers are adept at addressing issues that get in the way of receiving care such as loneliness, helplessness and boredom. Dale Kiesz teaches them about the importance of active engagement and good personal care, which helps give clients a sense of self-worth and a chance to overcome boredom and loneliness as they age, he says.
  • Learn more about in-home care – A little knowledge can go a long way, especially when it comes to caring for your loved ones. For a limited time, the company is offering family caregivers access to its Homewatch CareGivers University, which has hundreds of relevant courses developed by industry professionals. Simply email your name and contact information to westernwa@hwcg.com to learn about next steps.
