MARYSVILLE — The city of Marysville will still be celebrating its "Merrysville for the Holidays" winter festival in Comeford Park, taking place this year on Dec. 5, but the Electric Lights Parade will not be returning to State Avenue this year for the 21st annual event.

City of Marysville Recreation Coordinator Andrea Kingsford explained that the city needed to reduce the costs associated with the overtime needed to stage the parade, which was unsponsored. She hastened to add that all of the other activities associated with "Merrysville for the Holidays" are still scheduled for this year's celebration.

"We'll still have live music in the park, with a concert at 7 p.m.," said Kingsford, who noted that food vendors, arts-and-crafts sellers, the holiday bonfire and the official lighting of the water tower are all on tap.
