Marysville Fire District recruits graduate from Washington State Fire Academy
MARYSVILLE — Two recruits from the Marysville Fire District graduated from the Washington State Fire Academy on Nov. 5.
Michael Aquino and Cody Brooke were honored for their successful completion of the rigorous and demanding 12-week North Bend Academy program.
Both Aquino and Brooke were award winners from the graduating class of 19, including "Class Leader" leadership awards and weekly "Bulldog" awards.
Brooke, who was hired by Marysville in June as a paramedic, was also chosen as the class valedictorian and received the overall honor of the "Bulldog" award for his leadership, professionalism, dedication and confidence.
Aquino has been a part-time firefighter with Marysville since September of 2008, and was hired full-time in September of this year. He was awarded with Chief's Award for First Due Truck Company, which honors skills such as laddering, searching, ventilation and firefighting.
"We are proud of both Aquino and Brooke for their accomplishments at the Academy, and look forward to their many years of service with the Marysville Fire District," Marysville Fire Chief Greg Corn said of the new graduates.
