Thanks to a recently completed campaign of fundraising throughout the community, the students of the Life Skills Leadership class at Marysville-Pilchuck High School will be heading off to Olympia in the New Year.
After capping off 2012 with a pair of well-attended and well-received performances, the Marysville Strawberry Concert Band is taking a break for the winter holidays, but when they resume their Wednesday practice sessions from 6-8 p.m. at Totem Middle School on Jan. 9, the band’s conductors and instrumentalists hope to see a few more faces showing up to play.
It was standing room only in the alcove of the gymnasium at Marysville Getchell High School on Wednesday, Dec. 12, as students thronged the tightly packed space to watch seven of their peers compete in the school finals for the national Poetry Out Loud competition.

MARYSVILLE — The Cedarcrest Golf Course will become an after-dark winter wonderland starting on Thursday, Dec. 6, when its fairways will transform into a showcase for dazzling light displays, for the second annual Holiday Tour of Lights.

This December will mark a number of firsts for the Lakewood High School Drama group — their first holiday play, which is also their first staging of “It’s a Wonderful Life,” the first time that many of the high school actors have worked with younger actors onstage, and some unique casting for a few of the main characters.

When families head to the mountains to enjoy snow sports such as skiing, snowboarding and tubing, they should also protect their heads by wearing properly fitted helmets. When worn properly, helmets can prevent or reduce the effects of 53 percent of the head injuries suffered by children in the United States while skiing or snowboarding, according to Safe Kids USA.
