Marysville on WE Day stage at Tacoma Dome

The new Girls of Promise and S Club in Marysville were front and center at a recent WE Day event at a packed Tacoma Dome.

Member Casey Emory got to be on stage to give a speech about the importance of water.

The two Soroptimist International of Marysville groups raised over $1,000 recently to build wells at schools in Ecuador.

The money was made at a WE Walk for Water event at Marysville-Pilchuck High School. Vendors, students and community members participated in various activities, including trivia and water races. S Club is a leadership and community service after-school club comprised of students looking to make a difference in their community and the world.

Girls of Promise is a leadership group of girls at Cedarcrest and Totem middle schools, co-sponsored by the Marysville YMCA. WE Day has been around since 2007. Its goal is to encourage social activism among young people.
