MARYSVILLE — The Marysville Arts Coalition has already booked a dozen vendors so far, but hopes to recruit a total of 15 vendors by Monday, Nov. 4, for its "Autumn Artistry" two-day art show and sale on Nov. 8-9 at the Red Curtain Art Center, located at the former Dunn Lumber building at 1410 Grove St. in Marysville.

MARYSVILLE — The Marysville Arts Coalition has already booked a dozen vendors so far, but hopes to recruit a total of 15 vendors by Monday, Nov. 4, for its “Autumn Artistry” two-day art show and sale on Nov. 8-9 at the Red Curtain Art Center, located at the former Dunn Lumber building at 1410 Grove St. in Marysville.

“Craft bazaars are plentiful this time of year, but the Marysville Arts Coalition show features art rather than crafts,” said Beckye Randall, chair of the Marysville Arts Coalition, about the show from 3-7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9. “It’s a fine line that’s sometimes blurred, but we make every effort to ensure visitors will find fine quality items that are created by working artists. We’re fortunate to be associated with Ornamental Arts Gallery, and their familiarity with local artists helps us attract a great lineup of quality works.”

Randall also expressed her gratitude to the Red Curtain Foundation for the Arts, for providing space for the show at no cost, and for presenting a showcase of theatrical scenes performed by advanced acting students at 8 p.m. on Nov. 8 for free, with admission by donation, as part of the art show weekend.

“Because this is the third art show that the Marysville Arts Coalition has put together, and we were already familiar with the space we’d be using, a lot of the details fell into place pretty easily,” Randall said of the show, whose works by participating local artists are set to include paintings, photography, jewelry, stained glass and glass sculptures, textiles, decorative gourds and more. “We have a wonderful core group of volunteers who have pitched in to take on specific tasks, whether it’s hospitality, the craft table for kids, setting up the music or painting Pilgrims with cutout faces for photos.”

Although the Marysville Arts Coalition has staged the spring “It’s Raining Art” show in the same space for the past two years, Randall explained that the new “Autumn Artistry” event aims to offer attendees opportunities to shop for holiday gifts, in the midst of a theme and décor that are designed to celebrate the colors and beauty of fall in the Pacific Northwest.

“The Marysville Arts Coalition is a community-based volunteer organization that works to find opportunities for community members to participate in the arts,” Randall said of the group, which includes five Board members and more than half a dozen core volunteers. “Our longer-term goals, which depend on acquiring funding, include purchasing public art for the city, becoming a funding source for arts organizations and individual artists, and helping to present festivals and other annual events that promote Marysville as an artistic city.”

Proceeds from the “Autumn Artistry” art show and sale will help fund opportunities to promote the arts in Marysville.
