Lakewood schools hire 6 new leaders

LAKEWOOD – The school district recently hired six new administrators.

Jeanette Grisham will be the new principal of Lakewood High School, Amie Verellen-Grubbs is the new assistant director of Teaching & Learning and Kim Caldwell is the new principal at Lakewood Elementary.

The district has also added three deans of students at the elementary schools. Amy Hendry (previously an LHS Spanish teacher) will be at English Crossing, Laure Rancich (previously special education teacher at ECE) will be at Cougar Creek and Jody Ziemer (previously LES librarian) will stay at LES. The deans will support the instructional, cultural, social-emotional, and behavioral goals of the schools through direct work with students, staff and families.

•Grisham is replacing Mike Curl. She has been a math teacher, facilitator and regional math coordinator, but most currently was assistant principal at Bellingham High School. Grisham received her bachelor’s from Western Washington University, her masters in education from Antioch University of Seattle, and her masters in administration from the University of Washington.

•Verellen-Grubbs’s new position will support career and college readiness for all students, in addition to facilitating K-12 curriculum, instruction and assessment. She comes from the Arlington School District and has been a teacher, principal and district administrator. She also graduated from WWU and

earned her masterss from City University.

•Caldwell is replacing Susan Cotton as the LES principal. She also is coming from the Arlington School District where she most recently served as the assistant principal at Presidents Elementary. Caldwell graduated from Washington State University and earner her principal credentials from Concordia University.
