Kids get coats from firefighters

MARYSVILLE – More than 80 local children received new winter coats Oct. 12 thanks to Marysville Firefighters Local 3219.

For the fourth-consecutive year, Marysville Fire District firefighters partnered with the national nonprofit Operation Warm to provide free coats to children in need. This year, firefighters provided coats to first-graders at Liberty Elementary School.

“This is truly one of our favorite events of the year,” said Capt. Jason Tucker, IAFF president. “We love to see all the smiles when the kids pick up their coats. We also know the coats will mean these families can use their limited resources on other needs this holiday season.”

Funding for the Union Made in the USA coats was generated through a fundraising campaign. Since partnering with Operation Warm in 2012, IAFF Firefighters across North America have provided new coats to more than 200,000 children in need.
