Continuing the Halloween family tradition in Marysville

Rachel Nanfito, above, is carrying on the family tradition. When her mom died, the family was thinking of selling 3rd Street Books. “There’s no money in it,” she said of the longtime bookstore. But Nanfito decided to quit her job, work there part-time, and keep the bookstore open. She also continued her mom’s tradition of dressing as a witch and handing out candy Halloween night on 3rd Street. On Wednesday, kids of all ages and in all types of costumes visited the businesses. Treats included fresh donuts at the Dutch Bakery and Mary Kirkland handed out puppets and oranges at Hilton Pharmacy, below.
