“Catacomb” at Bryant Community Church

A drama written by Paul McCusker from Focus on the Family, “Catacombs” is presented by Bryant Community Church 7 p.m., Friday, March 13. It’s an account of real people in a time of persecution. St. Pat’s Day

St. Patrick’s Day at Grandview Community Center will be a bit different this year. GCC locals are taking a hiatus from putting on dinner for more than a hundred people and instead they are planning a potluck. Bring a dish to share. There will be Celtic music jamming from 6 - 9 p.m., Saturday, March 14. GCC is northeast of Arlington: Take SR 9 north to Bryant and turn right onto Grandview Road and go six miles to 115th Ave NE and another half mile to Smokes Road. Garden club

workshop expands

Master Gardener Wink Cushman will discuss ornamental grasses at the Arlington Garden Club’s “Keep Your Thumb Green workshop 10 - 11:30 a.m., Saturday, March 14 and after that, from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. the first session of the Snohomish County Master Gardener’s “Grow your own groceries” workshops will be presented in the same room at the Boys & Girls Club at 18513 59th Ave. NE in Arlington. Battle of

the Bands

Lakewood Education Foundation has announced a Battle of the Bands on March 21 as both a showcase for young talent from Arlington, Stanwood and Marysville, and as a fundraiser for the foundation. The show starts at 6 p.m., at Lakewood High School gym. Bands will have the chance to win $100. There is no entrance fee for bands. Admission is $5 for spectators. Concessions will be available. LEF supports Lakewood students and faculty with educator grants, individual student needs and scholarships for graduating seniors.
